WHAT IS IMPACT THERAPY ASSOCIATES? Impact Therapy Associates consists of therapists who have been involved in extensive training in Impact Therapy with Dr. Ed Jacobs, a counselor educator, national presenter, and author of three very widely used counseling books. The Associates are counselor educators, national presenters, school counselors and private practitioners who present workshops throughout the country on Impact Therapy and use an Impact Therapy approach in their counseling practices.
IMPACT THERAPY & CREATIVE COUNSELING TECHNIQUES
This workshop emphasizes the RCFF (Rapport, Contract, Focus, Funnel)
map of Impact Therapy as well as the Depth Chart for guiding sessions towards
more impact for your clients. The five T's of Impact Therapy are discussed,
along with the nine Impact Therapy paths. Common mistakes of counseling
and how to avoid these mistakes are discussed. Participants will also see
and understand how to use many of the creative counseling techniques developed
by Dr. Jacobs. The creative techniques demonstrated include the use of
props, chairs, movement, writing, drawing, analogies and fantasies. (1-2
days)
IMPACT THERAPY & RATIONAL EMOTIVE BEHAVIOR THERAPY
The principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy are demonstrated
within the framework of Impact Therapy. The trainers will present many
aspects of REBT: the ABC approach, the 15 irrational ideas, dealing with
anger, guilt, self-worth and low frustration tolerance. Emphasis is on
showing how REBT can be used creatively in order to have more impact. Demonstrations
and discussion will primarily center on how to dispute clients' irrational
beliefs by using an Impact Therapy approach. (1-2 days)
IMPACT THERAPY & TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS
This workshop involves the integration of Transactional Analysis and
Impact Therapy. Participants will see how useful and beneficial TA can
be to clients and therapists. Participants will learn how to explain TA
(different ego states, life scripts, various communication patterns) to
their clients using drawings and extra chairs. Participants will leave
with a better understanding of how to use TA in a fresh, innovative way
that is extremely helpful for clients. (1-2 days)
IMPACT THERAPY & GROUP COUNSELING
Participants who attend this workshop will learn an active, creative,
intrapersonal approach to group leading. A model emphasizing active leadership
rather than facilitating will be presented. Participants will learn skills
and techniques that aid in having more impact in groups. The guiding map
of PPFF (Purpose Plan, Focus, Funnel) is presented and explained.
Essential leadership skills of cutting-off, drawing-out, and energizing
your groups will be demonstrated, as well as the framework for setting
up and planning effective groups. Leadership skills and creative techniques
involving movement, use of rounds and use of props will be thoroughly covered.
(1-2 days)
IMPACT THERAPY & PUTTING THEORY INTO PRACTICE
This three-day workshop concentrates on individual counseling skills,
with emphasis on Impact therapy, TA, REBT, Reality Therapy, Gestalt, and
Creative Counseling techniques. This intensive workshop consists of mini-lectures,
demonstrations, video tapes and small group discussion. Participants have
an opportunity to practice skills as they acquire them. A wide range of
counseling problems will be addressed. Ample time is allowed for questions
and answers dealing with specific kinds of clients and problem situations.
This workshop is required of anyone who desires to do the one year intensive
training with Impact Therapy Associates. (3 days)
PERSONAL GROWTH AND ENHANCEMENT WEEKEND

two days of personal growth and enhancement as you seek to think more clearly
about the issues that plague you and your clients. There exists a strong
belief that to better help clients, we must first help ourselves. This

that are on your mind. You will also get a chance to see Impact Therapy
put into practice as you and other participants work on personal issues.
