  BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF NINA SPADARO

Dr. Nina Spadaro has been counseling since 1977 when she received her masters degree in  Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University. In 1983 she received a doctorate in Counseling and subsequently became a licensed Psychologist.  Her experience includes community mental health and private practice, and much of her experience has been gained through clinical practice and program development in an innovative, program oriented Federal Correctional Institution. Dr. Spadaro has been a protégé of Dr. Ed Jacobs, founder of Impact Therapy Associates, since the early days of her training, and has successfully used the Impact Therapy model, a multisensory approach to counseling, with families, groups, and individuals. Currently she conducts a limited private practice, including private workshops, and is a counselor educator at West Virginia University as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling Department where she teaches Techniques, Theories, Marriage & Family, and Group Counseling to graduate students. Her other teaching duties include working with the undergraduate Honors Program in the area of Human Sexuality and Life Choices.  Having earned a black belt many years ago, Nina continues to teach children’s martial arts when she can fit it in her busy life. She has been a wife for 20+ years, and is the mother of a teenager and a “bubble-gummer” who are both active in sports and school. Nina does not sleep much but is glad to be alive!
